Hello,
My name is Menaka and let me share a little secret with you...
When I was growing up, I studied only for one reason, to score well in exams. No exams? No reading! . I thought reading was like brushing teeth, something I had to do like a chore, but never for fun. That approach worked for a while.
I studied Engineering, management from IIM Indore, and even cleared the selection to serve as an Army officer in Indian Army. But as I entered the adult world, I discovered something important, that real life does not come with a syllabus. Everyday questions from “Why fuel prices are rising?” to “Why do people fight over borders?” had no ready-made answers.
At work, I noticed that the smartest people around me were readers. They began their day with the news and could talk just about anything be it politics, sports, technology, science with ease. Inspired, I started reading too. Slowly I grew more confident because I not only knew what was happening but also why.
Years later, when my daughter entered middle school, I wanted her to build this habit early. But every newspaper I tried failed to catch her attention. That was the moment when SmartScoop was born, created to make news fun, simple, and engaging for kids. Soon I realized that children do not dislike news, they only dislike the way it is usually presented to them.
My goal is to help children grow into curious and confident adults who understand the world, make better choices and form their own opinions. See you all every week with interesting stories!

I am Angeleena and I have always been a bookworm.
When I was younger, I was a very shy kid who loved disappearing into new worlds through books. Reading felt magical like I could live a hundred different lives by stepping into the minds of different characters.
I’d curl up for hours with a book dragging it to bed, sneaking it on the way to school, even reading at the dining table (which really annoyed my mother!).
Some of my most exciting days were when a friend at school lent me a book they enjoyed; I couldn’t wait to get home and dive in. And whenever my dad took us to the local stationery store for glue or craft supplies, I somehow always managed to walk out with a new book tucked under my arm!
As I grew older, my tastes changed: from thrillers and mysteries to stories of people - real or fictional - it didn’t matter. Those stories taught me how people think and showed me new ways of looking at the world. I even started to notice the styles of writing I liked best.
Here’s why I’m telling you this: your relationship with reading is your own. Your journey will be different, your tastes will change, but that’s the fun of it.
